Job Title: Physician Geriatric Medicine
Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Physician specialized in Geriatric Medicine to join our healthcare team. As a Geriatric Physician, you will provide specialized medical care to elderly patients, focusing on diagnosing, preventing, and managing age-related illnesses and conditions. Your role will involve ensuring the overall well-being and quality of life for geriatric patients while addressing their specific healthcare needs.
Responsibilities and Duties:
- Conduct comprehensive medical examinations of geriatric patients, including reviewing medical histories, performing physical examinations, and ordering diagnostic tests.
- Develop personalized treatment plans and provide individualized medical care based on geriatric patients' unique needs, conditions, and medical histories.
- Diagnose, treat, and manage age-related illnesses, including chronic diseases, cardiovascular issues, cognitive disorders, mobility problems, and other geriatric health concerns.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams to provide comprehensive and coordinated care to geriatric patients, ensuring continuity of care throughout different healthcare settings.
- Educate patients, families, and caregivers about geriatric health issues, preventive care, medication management, and lifestyle changes to promote elderly patients' health and well-being.
- Perform procedures relevant to geriatric medicine, such as joint injections, skin biopsies, and minor surgeries, as necessary.
- Develop and implement strategies to improve the quality of care for elderly patients, promoting patient safety, enhancing healthcare outcomes, and optimizing care delivery processes.
- Stay updated with advancements and best practices in geriatric medicine through continuous professional development, attending conferences, and participating in relevant research.
- Adhere to ethical standards of patient care, confidentiality, and professional conduct, maintaining accurate and thorough medical records.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree from an accredited medical school.
- Board certification in Geriatric Medicine.
- Valid medical license and eligibility for medical licensure in the state where the position is located.
- Proven experience in the diagnosis, treatment, and management of geriatric patients, preferably in a clinical setting.
- Strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills, with the ability to develop effective treatment plans personalized to each patient.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to establish rapport with elderly patients, their families, and multidisciplinary healthcare teams.
- Empathy, compassion, and patience in caring for geriatric patients with complex medical needs and chronic conditions.
- Attention to detail and the ability to manage time efficiently, prioritizing patient care and administrative responsibilities.
- Proficiency in electronic medical record systems and other relevant medical software.
